On Defense Monty Rice and Richard LeCounte lead the team in tackles with J. R. Reed next. You’ll see all 3 of them on Sundays.
Eric Stokes by all accounts is a borderline 4-star player with tremendous ball skills only slotted as athlete because of his versatility not because no one could slot his position. 185 lbs. Eric Stokes is a prototypical cornerback. 2018 despite not playing many snaps this year after NONE last year. Of the 10 games playing only 9 Eric Stokes is the second-leading pass defender on the team with 5 pass break-ups adding a pass break-up against # 24 Auburn.
Eric Stokes also blocked punt against Missouri and took that to the house.
8 tackles in 8 games played includes a rare for Georgia Bulldogs 2018 tackle for a loss.
Kirby has substituted liberally on the defensive side of the ball literally replacing all 11 at times on successive plays when the opponents substitute a player.
Defensive players get plenty of opportunity in Kirby’s substitution patterns running whole packages in and out on successive plays.
Eric Stokes # 37 best athlete in the nation clearly a 4-star nearly. Adding a much needed skillset to Kirby’s secondary.
A smart player with a Psychology Major ERIC JAMANE STOKES is getting the job done when Kirby will let him get a rare snap here and there.
# 37 Athlete Eric Stokes 6 feet one inch now listed at 185 lbs. 4.47 in 40-yard dash Nike time Cornerback Eastside High Covington state champion 100-meter dash time 10.4 wow Signed LOI 2-1-2017
Where Georgia really falls short is that Alabama has a far better offense across the board and this is where Kirby has substituted less. Seemingly reticent to try other players much by stark contrast.
Sometimes you find a diamond in the rough.
Highlight Eric Stokes.
We have others Kirby on offense who could benefit from an opportunity to shine.
Kirby seems more concerned with getting 3rd teamers on Offense lots of snaps than he does back-up players who earned the right to play more by being the 2nd team offensive players.
Offensive Linemen have been getting reps now that we reach the home stretch because of attrition and injuries rather than by design preparing them for all this.
I’m looking for guys like Charlie Woerner James Cook and Elijah Holyfield to be targeted more by whichever quarterback Kirby gets snaps to on passing downs this week. I demand Kirby throw the ball to Demetris Robertson too.
Running the ball I hope to see Brian Herrien and again James Cook to get more carries this week against UMass. I would be more interested in that than I would seeing a 3rd teamer get a bone Kirby instead of James Cook and Brian Herrien. You want to know the truth ? I fully expect James Cook and Brian Herrien to play on Sundays. Those behind them NOT. So why then don’t they get the bones thrown to them this week against UMass ? Leave starters in ? What for ?
Play 3rd teamers again who have already played in 3 games too much to my liking at the expense of Justin Fields at the expense of Brian Herrien and at the expense of James Cook ? Good Lord that is hard-headed Kirby.
I think Kirby has a lot to learn on Offense.
Kirby could learn on Offense from Kirby himself and his liberal substitution patterns on Defense.
Why what is good for the Goose is not good for the Gander Kirby ?
Justin Fields has to get on the field and stay on the field this week, not Matthew Downing who has played in 3 games already with several passes per game. That’s SEVERAL MORE PASSES by Justin Fields per game for 3 more games than he has been getting to-date and then just about nearly the right amount. Instead Justin Fields too is not played enough. Forget the 3rd teamers this week Kirby and get your men the PT who might actually matter against Alabama.
Or did you think Kirby that you would beat Alabama by playing lesser talented players MORE and more talented players less ?
Which is it Kirby ?
It’s nice to play walk-ons Kirby against a team like UMass but it is far more important for the highly-touted recruits to get THOSE SNAPS you give the walk-ons in these games Kirby. The fans and the recruits are talking Kirby about your substitution patterns on OFFENSE so no Kirby it’s not just the media.
Thanks for putting us in this position Mark Richt clearly did NOT Kirby. Now let’s actually win the game. These are 15-game seasons Kirby and you need all your 2-deep contributing made-up of last year’s # 3 ranked recruiting class and this year’s # 1 ranked recruiting class Kirby since we want to be able to hang with Alabama who had 6 straight # 1 ranked recruiting classes until this year when you unseated them Kirby.
I did not sign-up for being in-the-hunt. I want to win. If I wanted to go hunting I will get out my Ruger 30-06 with Leupold scope. 2016 we lost 5 games. Last year we lost 2 games. This year we already have a loss which is why we are in this situation this morning. I am thankful Kirby is not where Mark Richt is today but I FIRED Mark Richt didn’t I ? Alabama can afford a loss; let’s give it to them by using our 2-deep on offense better Kirby. If you are going to call a running play on the goal line do NOT leave Jake Fromm in there. NOT. Jake Fromm is NOT dual-threat.
